PTI Security Systems Launches Keyless Bluetooth Padlock

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – April 6, 2023 – PTI Security Systems^™, part of ASSA ABLOY and the global leader in access control technologies for the self-storage industry, announced today a new product in its security arsenal that merges the strength of fortified steel with keyless Bluetooth technology. The HELOX padlock offers self-storage operators and tenants an easy-to-use, almost impenetrable layer of protection for stored items and to maintain facility integrity. Designed to integrate with tenant-facing mobile application EasyCode and operator-facing mobile application StorLogix Mobile, and PTI’s access control platform, StorLogix Cloud, the HELOX padlock enhances keyless protection with no disruption to current access control systems. Operators can also utilize overlock capabilities with HELOX to protect off-limit tenant spaces.

The rechargeable lock boasts a charge life of up to five years or 5,000 access cycles, providing years of operation without the need for service or recharging time. Designed to perform in a temperature range of – 25ºC to 60ºC with an IP68 waterproof rating, the lock is equipped with a clock and cloud connectivity up to 50m in range. It can log real-time events while reporting its status and audit trails to the StorLogix Cloud platform. The battery-operated lock has online and offline connection modes, with backup power available via USB cable.

The advanced Bluetooth technology in HELOX enables fully automated web-to-unit rentals and secure digital key sharing. Tenants can rent their unit via the storage facility’s website, receive their gate code instantly, and unlock the unit via EasyCode once they are in front of the unit. Tenants can also give friends, family members, or business associates a one-time digital key to open the unit. Operators can deny the key share and overlock the unit via StorLogix Cloud or StorLogix Mobile if they suspect inappropriate usage.

According to February 2023 self-storage industry statistics shared by Storage Café, one in three Americans currently uses a self-storage facility. “Business purposes” is cited as the fifth most popular reason for rental. Increasing security while enabling digital key sharing is a rising priority for these tenants, whether they require shared access for coworkers or customers.

The HELOX padlock will debut at The Inside Self Storage World (ISS) Expo on April 11-14, 2023, and will be available by the end of Q2 this year.
